Buddy punching
Buddy punching refers to when staff clock in or out of shifts on behalf of their colleagues or coworkers. This is usually done to cover up instances of lateness, or to give their employer the impression that they were in work longer than they actually were.
Modern clocking-in systems eliminate the risk of buddy punching by requiring staff to enter unique PINs rather than using timecards or signing in. Managers can also enable photo-taking on clock-in, so they can be sure that the person clocking in is who they say they are.
